This historic home made an excellent vacation HQ for our family of 5. We had everything we needed. The kids loved playing in the yard. The fire pit and wrap-around porch (with swing) were major perks. We loved the novelty of being in a home like this with the small bedrooms with short ceilings (another perk for the kids). The upstairs balcony made a wonderful place for sitting in the morning with breakfast or winding down in the evening. Richard's Landing/St. Joseph Island makes for a wonderful location for a family summer vacation as well. There were plenty of things to do to keep us busy, including the History Museum and the provincial park on the south side of the island with the Fort ruins. Our only complaint was the lack of screens in the windows upstairs. It was very warm during the first portion of our stay. Without screens, we had "invasion of the moths" with the windows open. Otherwise, I highly recommend staying at the Heritage Stone House.
