Not worth it--look elsewhere
The treehouse is nice, but I will not be returning and will not recommend the place to my friends. The property owners are retired and seem to be lacking in the energy to run an operation that justifies the price tag. I was shocked when I learned that the bathroom was a shared one and even more surprised to learn how far away it was. There is a tiny outhouse adjacent to the tree house. It is labeled as a "composting toilet" but it's really a toilet seat above a bucket containing sawdust. We were admonished that the bucket was "For Emergency Urination Only." It seemed to me the owner did not want to be bothered to empty the bucket at all, if ever. In other words: "Pay us a pretty penny for this place, but do not pee anywhere near where you are. Instead, walk a circuitous, 90-second route to a shared toilet." The hot tub on the deck was OK, but we could not figure out how to turn off the jets when they came on unexpectedly. Walking from the hot tub to the tree house was interesting. It was well after dark and it appeared everyone had turned in for the night. On our "au naturel" walk back to the treehouse, the motion sensors tripped and, unbidden by us, the walkway lights flipped on. The next morning, the owner came to the treehouse to report his neighbor had seen (gasp!) nudity. The busybody neighbor had allegedly called the owner to complain. I found it interesting the complaint was solely about the male member of my party. Apparently, the sight of an attractive, unclothed, 27-year-old woman was completely inoffensive. The thing that really got me was the owner said his neighbor threatened to call the police over this. I find it astonishing that we were made to feel guilty. On our first morning, the owner delivered an OK breakfast on a tray. It was a fancy version of a continental breakfast. We ate our fill and left for the day. On our return many hours later the breakfast tray was still there and the room was as we had left it. I removed the tray and dirty dishes and put it in the owner's house. The next morning there was no offer of a breakfast. My impression of the place is that it is run by people who are trading on nice photos but who do not deliver value. Also, I had to wonder who was really watching my girlfriend and me in the hot tub. There just seemed to be a surfeit of busybodies in that little corner of the world. My bottom line is that I paid far too much and got a creepy experience in return. I will not be going back.
