We just returned from our stay at this lovely home in Murphys and we immediately looked at the calendar to see when we could go back! It truly is a piece of paradise like the previous reviewer mentioned. We have never been to Murphys before and really only stayed here because we were joining friends for Easter brunch at their favorite winery. I'm so glad we did stay, though, because we have added a new favorite place for quick/close by family trips from the Bay Area. The house is rustic yet charming and has everything you need. It's very spacious and all of the beds were comfortable. Can we talk about the master bed real quick? I have a tempurpedic at home and I usually don't like most beds at the various VRBO houses we've stayed at. This master bed was awesome. I had to fake convince my 5 year old that her bed was better (muhaha) so I could have the master bed all to myself (muhahah). The property was awesome and we enjoyed exploring it with our dogs. We saw a variety of birds and a few jack rabbits but never came across anything alarming. We were given fair warning about ticks and of all the bugs in the world, ticks are at the top of my most hated list. With that said, though, we didn't see one tick during our entire stay and our dogs were thoroughly checked each time they came in from outdoor exploring. It rained for 80% of our stay but we didn't let that get us down and really, the rain added more peaceful elements to our stay. It wasn't quite chilly enough to use the wood stove but we could imagine how its use would have made the whole experience even more charming and wonderful. We cooked a meal/day and ate out a meal/day and we found that the kitchen had everything we needed and were thankful for a small stash of spices that we added to. The selection of pots and pans were very nice. We had an issue with the hot water heater which was a bummer. Jessica was prompt in her communications with us and was more than fair in regard to compensating us for the lack of sufficient hot water. Yes, it was a bummer but on the other hand it does not affect our views of the place and would go back sooner rather than later if we could. All in all, it's a truly magical slice of paradise and we are so glad we chose this rental over others that we were looking at. If you're questioning/wondering (even slightly) if you should stay at this Murphys Homestead, STOP and just book it already. Thank you again, Jessica, we enjoyed our stay so much!
Beautiful Murphys Homestead, 5 mins from downtown!
