A perfect base to explore Mesa Verde
The owners have really thought of everything - wood, axe, eatware, cookware, beds, bedding, books, maps, flashlights, water, fan, grill, stove.... It is a slice of heaven right next to Mesa Verde. Do bring good back country clothing and hydration gear for summer. We rented an awd Sedona and it handled the dirt approach road no problem. A Miata might have trouble. Do print out and follow the owners map that guides you in from the visitor's center. The tree shaded yurt was cool in high heat all night and all morning. When we returned from hiking around 7 it was 95 outside but cool and comfortable inside. The quaint outhouse was not scary for my wife and kids and we washed up at the kitchen sink. A solar shower is there if you stay longer. Solar power runs fans or coffee pot or phone chargers. We did get decent cellular data via Version. Owners were very responsive and the photos are accurate. Inside was clean and efficient. We really loved Mesa Verde. We did Balcony House, Cliff Palace, Far View and don't miss the Petroglyph Trail. If you want the secluded outdoor glamping experience without flying with camping gear this is it. Highly recommended.
