Nice spot. Some basic maintenance / cleaning issues upon check in, but overall happy.
Great location. Great house. We enjoyed our stay. The house had some games and toys for the kids, which we very much appreciated. However, there was some frustrating issues that would lead us to look elsewhere next time we need to rent a house in Big Bear. One recommendation for future tenants, which to be fair the landlord stated in their check in instructions, would be to make sure everything is working properly upon check in. Especially amenities you plan on using. For example, we only stayed two nights and didn't use the jacuzzi until later the second night. The heater was broken and so frustratingly we weren't able to use it. Again, we should have checked to see if it was working when we checked in, so we're partly to blame. Also, the television in the pool room didn't work until we had maintenance come and replace the broken remote control. So, not tv for us the first night, while playing pool. Only one of the two keys in the lockbox worked, so we just decided to leave the key in the lockbox so our group would be able to access the house if we were arriving to the house at different times. The cleaners apparently didn't change one of the bedsheets, because it was loaded with a ton of sand the first night when we pulled back the covers. Normally, not a big deal, but then we started to wonder if the pillow cases were changed too...a little nasty. Lastly, the fridge/freezer didn't get cold enough. We had to throw away some bacon that we weren't confident wasn't bad the first morning and we had to drink cool (but not cold) beverages. We knew going in to this that this was a cabin and not a fancy hotel, but there were some little maintenance things that you would expect to be working properly and/or cleaned for the pricepoint of the house. Donnie, the maintenance guy was very helpful and was a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Donnie.
