The perfect cabin getaway - balancing rustic with creature-comforts
This has been the most delightful cabin we have rented thus far. It has all the creature comforts and modern amenities without sacrificing rustic charm. In spite of the hot weather, Marianne made sure that there was a swamp cooler in addition to the A/C and we were very cozy. The bed and day bed were the most comfortable we have ever slept in and the sofa swallows you up as you sip the wine you picked up from the nearby vineyards (corkscrew included). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need, plus some. The decor is delightfully rustic and it soothed our city-slicker eyes. Marianne's goats are great company, particularly Little Goat, who thinks he's a dog. They made us feel welcome and special and we played with them. We didn't know what to do with the horses, but they made for an idyllic aura. The location is perfect for not only wine tasting and vineyard tours, but also the Big Trees park. It's less than an hour's drive to the South Grove of the park and you can make a day of it while still having enough time to enjoy the cabin. It worked out very well for us as we were dreading the crowds in Yosemite and the long drive to it and back from the Bay Area. We also enjoyed the Natural Bridges trail which is a few minutes away. We really wished it were winter so that we could have had a fire going in the fire pit outside, and would love to come back then. All in all, we thought we had the most enjoyable and authentic all-American July 4th weekend (we're Canadian and Indian); Clint Eastwood might have knocked on the door :-P !
