Great location for families with bigger kids and/or dogs. Close to Ocean but out of the wind.
We loved Manzanita, its vast beaches, and laid back town vibe, and had a great stay. The house was as described and the owners communicated well. We enjoyed the deck that was just far enough from the Ocean to be out of the wind, and the comfy living room couch. After adding all the fees the price felt high, but would have been more reasonable if we actually had a need for the downstairs rooms (kids bunk beds and laundry / playroom), and of course we stayed there in July (high season). If you're traveling with real little ones like we did: Note that there is no ground-level access (garage was locked), and no place to park a stroller out of the weather. Also, we bought a gate to lock access to the interior stairs. The place has a lot of cute decorative touches, but with little kids around we had to move many out of the way and into safety while we visited. Note that there are no sidewalks in this area or on your way to town, but only relatively little traffic. On the upside, you only have to cross one street to get onto the beach that leads directly downtown. The nearby dunes and fresh water channeling through the beach were our 23-month old's paradise! Last, traveling with kids kicked in the extra insurance requirement that adds a little extra to the total cost of the stay. If you suffer from allergies the carpets combined with high relative humidity may not be ideal, but that is no different from any other place. We just vented the place while home and had no problems. We LOVE dogs, and watching them run freely on the beach. This must be the last best place for them! My Mom who was with us is a little anxious about them, although the dogs we met were all very friendly. If you have dog-issues, this may not be the best beach for you.
Relax in serenity with ocean views. Walk to the beach and Manzanita town center.
