Clean but old and noisey.
We stayed at this townhome for almost 3 weeks in March. We don't need luxury but for the price, we believe some of the funds should go toward updates. We have stayed at 3 different townhomes in this area the last 3 yrs due to rentals being removed from VRBO. This rental is by far the most outdated of the 3 but it was clean and had almost everything we needed. Upon arrival, we walked in to a musty, mildew smell. Both showers drip so we figured that was the problem. Three days later we realized the AC was off and once that was on it helped with the smell. We love the location of the complex but NOT the location of this unit. We've stayed in this complex before and didn't notice the traffic noise. This unit backs up to a very busy street and a fire station 1 1/2 blocks away. Because the windows & doors are old single pane aluminum, it is very noisy. One breezy evening we noticed the drapes in the LR & master billowing even though the doors were closed. The master bath has 2 windows but the 1 that would open didn't have a screen. We switched the screens to keep the bugs out. Our first night was welcomed with several mosquito bites while sleeping. The slider in the LR out to the BBQ also has a tendency to lock when you go outside. This happened on 3 occasions so we had to be careful not to close it all the way or make sure one of us stayed inside. Although new windows & doors won't help with traffic noise while outside, we believe it would really cut down on the noise while watching TV or sleeping. The LR is very dark and if you keep the drapes closed in the master to keep the heat out, so is the master. We had everything we needed in the kitchen although the cabinets & counters were obviously originals from 45 yrs ago when the unit was built. Drawers & doors won't close all the way and chunks are missing. The counter has holes and cracks but at least the appliances aren't as old as the rest of the kitchen. There's a breakfast bar but only 1 stool. We appreciated the recycle info on the fridge since that varies by city. We don't think we will stay in the unit until major renovations are made. We were excited to stay in the same complex again and knew from the photos it wasn't as updated as some others but we didn't think it would be this old. This was the most expensive but most outdated and noisiest rental in 3 yrs. We will attempt to get "more bang for our buck" next year. It was OK but for the price, we were expecting more than just OK.
