Nice little getaway!
I would recommend Bair Ranch to anyone looking to get away for a bit. My girlfriend and I are a couple of city slicker types and on a whim looked on VRBO for a place to camp for an evening. We found a cabin on Bair Ranch and decided it would be a great place to start for someone (the girlfriend) who has never camped before. I was concerned because I drive a 2-seater sports car but access to the cabin was manageable. Moments after we arrived a freak storm came through the road became really slippery and those who tried to drive down failed! We became very concerned as we fully had intent to go into Glenwood Springs for supplies after hiking Hanging Lake. So we were basically stranded in the canyon with no food and little water! After succumbing to the fact we would have to go hungry and thirsty for the night, we heard the sound of an ATV and was Vaniel from the Bair Ranch office. She asked if we needed anything and explained we had no food. She had mentioned trying to wrangle up some thing for us. Would you know in less than 30-minutes she cam back with charcoal, lighter fluid hot dogs and S'mores?? Unbelievable! Thank you so much!! We had a great stay. We saw the most vivid double-rainbow right before our eyes in the canyon--so bright you could barely look for long. The stars were indescribable that night as well. Do yourself a favor and stay here on your next trip to the mountains. I will go back and perhaps do an ATV or Unimog tour. Cheers!
