Best rental experience we've had!
My husband grew up in Rogers City and so our family (myself, my husband, our daughters aged 11, 9, and 7 along with my parents) love to visit the area around Nautical Fest. In years past we've stayed in Hoeft State Park because we like to bike the 5 miles to and from town using the beautiful path that runs along Lake Huron. Camping in a noisy state park is not my favorite way to vacation so I was thrilled to find this rental. The location was ideal for us. I booked it on the spot and am so glad I did! The cottage was SO nice. It was spacious enough that we had plenty of room, but was still quaint and cozy. The girls slept in the upstairs loft, each with their own comfortable bed while my husband and I took the downstairs bedroom. The owners allowed my parents to park their RV in the driveway, which worked perfectly. The cottage is adorable. It's retro modern decor is fitting of the home, there was no shortage of places to lounge and relax. There were lots of nice touches like fluffy blankets, fresh flowers, candy dishes filled with goodies, and s'mores fixings. Our daughters really enjoyed the game room with foosball table and ping pong, the outdoor games including the bean bag toss and hula hoop, and the back porch stocked with games and coloring books. By far the biggest hit though was the record player. This vacation will forever be remembered as the time when our 9 year old realized her love for the Beatles. We listened to Penny Lane a number of times. I appreciated the upscale kitchen appliances and utensils, sharp knives, nice dishes, plenty of dishes, wine glasses and coffee mugs, REALLY nice grilling utensils and accessories. The back yard has a huge picnic table where we ate most of our meals, a nice charcoal grill, and gorgeous fire pit. We felt like we had plenty of privacy but were still close to it all. The lake is steps away, and the state park with larger beach and playground is just a short walk. Of course the cottage is stocked with beach toys and fresh towels. As I mentioned, the bike path into town is wonderful, we had breakfast one morning at the 3 Hearts Bakery (a short walk away) which was great (keep in mind, they are only open Wednesday-Saturday), and just enjoyed all the area has to offer. Monica and Steve were great to deal with, prompt in answering questions and really went above and beyond to make our stay great. We loved the place and can't wait to return!
