Comfy, cozy, roomy, and the views.. We loved it!
We were in town to visit family and had 2 of our 3 children with us. Harry's place was way better than any hotel for the money. So much room to settle our family in, a kitchen to cook meals, views that go for miles. Tip: the sun rises right above the mountains and can be viewed indoors from the family room/living area or outside on the deck and what an awesome view! Besides, why give your hard earned money to some corporate faceless entity when you can stay at Harry's? He's a great host, his cute pups are almost unseen (especially Delilah) and were never heard during our stay. His property is close enough to all the attractions, whether you are a city dweller or outdoor enthusiast-this place is near it all. It offers sheltered parking and a spacious yard with a wooded nature trail - truly a nice break from anything you can get in a hotel. Funny note, even though the interior is very dated - Harry even jokingly said, "Welcome to the 80's", it is all super clean and in no way lacking upkeep...almost as if the time capsule was opened and out fell all the wood paneling, shaggiest carpet and country print style linoleum. In a way it felt like being at my Great Aunt's house (besides the animal print lol). Totally comfy/cozy huge bed in the master with attached bath and the kids liked their beds too. And don't worry, even if you get sucked into the wood paneling vortex and never want to or aren't sure how to come back - the large flat screen/cable TV and WiFi and modern kitchen will remind you that you aren't far away from current times. Again, don't let my possibly poor attempt at humor take anything away from an incredibly clean, well maintained property. The dated-ness actually gives it some character you won't forget. I wasn't sure what the shared kitchen would be like but in no way was a hindrance or issue to us. Harry was also really cool and worked around our schedule to get us checked in, seeing as we didn't show up until 8:30PM. We will definitely consider Harry's for our next trip to AVL.
