Wonderful cozy cabin in a beautiful setting
This was our first VRBO rental and it was great. The cabin is just lovely. It is situated on the mountain down winding roads surrounded by trees and nature. We were there the end of June and will all the leaves on the trees you really felt like you were isolated even though there are other cabins right next door. It's literally a 5 minute drive to the Beech Mountain ski resort. Which was perfect as we were there to visit Land of Oz - being one of the lucky ones to get tickets for one of their June tours with Dorothy. And not far at all from Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville, Grandfather Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. So much to do in the area. The creek right in the back was so nice and the path runs right behind the cabin following the creek. My 9 year old niece and I had "adventures" (her word) following the path and exploring the creek. Downstream the path takes you to a nice little park with a lake for fishing. One day we came across a baby deer and my niece was practically right next to it before they saw each other and the deer darted off. Another day we saw a whole group of them. Fred's store in town was great for picking up supplies and the restaurant downstairs was good for breakfast and lunch. Communication from the owner was very clear and timely. Her driving directions took us right to the cabin. Google Maps worked as well - although there were times I didn't have a good signal so the written directions and maps stayed in the car as backup. We had no problems on the roads with a front wheel drive car in June. In the winter it might be a different story - the road up the mountain is steep and winding and the roads near the cabin are gravel (Well groomed though). I would definitely return and we've already told our friends about this place.
