Great location and gracious host
We enjoyed our stay at Terri's apartment in the Gourmet Ghetto. The listing was fairly accurate, except for the mentions of the fireplace (which was unusable). The location was fabulous, a very short walk to the restaurants and shops in the Gourmet Ghetto, and about a 15-20 minute walk, or short Uber ride, to downtown Berkeley (with 2 movie theaters and many more restaurants and shops) and the BART stop. Commuting to San Francisco was also easy. The vintage apartment itself was roomy, charming and inviting, primarily well-kept, and the kitchen well-furnished. And the host was extremely responsive to our questions and needs. There was a disturbing noise factor, however, when the apartment next door was occupied by a family with noisy children; it seems the walls between the apartments are pretty thin. Some respectful suggestions for improvements: the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room need brighter lighting (perhaps just brighter bulbs in the ceiling fixtures?), the master bedroom mattress was very spongy/soft (not very supporting), provide a few extra pillows and blankets, update the bedroom shades and blinds (they didn't function well). Also, the kitchen would greatly benefit from a cabinet update, or at least provide washable liners on all the old/dated wooden shelves and drawers.
