Great secluded place, but not too far from Asheville or Hot Springs
Several of us from Durham get together each fall and rent a house in Western North Carolina for a weekend. We've generally stayed near Blowing Rock or Little Switzerland, but wanted to be a little closer to Asheville this year. This lodge fit our needs well. We went on a day trip to Max Patch, hit up Hot Springs for lunch, did a little hiking on the AT, and went to Asheville for dinner. Then we went back to the house to relax in the hot tub. My only cautionary advice is that the driveway up to the house is loose gravel, and pretty tricky with a two-wheel drive vehicle. Be prepared to spin out if you don't have four-wheel drive.
