First, the rental company has been helpful, but it appears they expected to rent some homes and get feedback about problems - making us the scapegoat for reporting major problems, which we had to do and in the renting to us, did not say anything. It is frustrating to have to deal with upper management who will calls you, not the other way around. I was not given a phone number (the person I talked to via phone was in Mammoth, CA), he called me and I was not given an email, though after talking with him, he assures me I will get both from the local office in Gualala. The Office Manager in Gualala is learning her job, anxious to help but when she was cleaning the home previously must have noticed the broken tiles in the kitchen (chunks taken out like someone took a hammer to it) and that none of the appliances were working to full capacity. The oven is a mess on the front and the oven compartment has not been cleaned in a very long time. Dishwasher works, but the part where you put a finisher is coming apart and the refrigerator, though working has shelving missing and broken inside. The toaster does not work and the coffee maker is warped, marking it difficult to take out/put in the carafe. Apparently they only rent out this home several times a year and the pictures that are on their website (and other rental websites) are very old (the rental agency told me this directly) and do not portray accurately the problems with this home. I've talked to the man who represents the agency (he's in Mammoth, CA) and he assures me they will be contacting the owner and ask for permission to fix the tile (it's the original Mexican tile and over 30 years old) and all the problems we discussed. According to him, if the owner does not agree they will simply delete the house from their list of available homes to rent. Unfortunately that leaves other rental agencies with the same great photos the ability to rent the home, leaving a prospective renter completely unaware. It's a shame because the home could be truly wonderful and is in a perfect location. We've been coming up here for a very long time and this is the first home we've stayed in that has such major problems.
