Quaint, secluded cottage
We were looking for a vacation rental that would allow us to escape the stresses of our daily jobs. We found it. This cottage was perfect. Bryan and Laura were incredible hosts. They made sure our needs were met but also left us alone to enjoy our stay. They were easily accessible and were willing to chat about the history of the area as well as tend to any of our needs which were minimal. Lake Huron laps practically at your front door. Each morning we enjoyed the sunrise. Each afternoon we enjoyed kayaking right from our front yard in waters that were crystal clear and smooth. We were able to enjoy swimming in the clear, cool waters. The cabins are located near Lighthouse Park. It made for a nice walk and you can tour the lighthouse and its grounds. We drove around the Thumb and stopped at a couple of antique shops as well as souvenir/gallery stores. The Thumb is low-key and we like it that way. The cabins are rustic and quaint. If you are looking for a five-star resort, keep looking. If you are looking for secluded and comfortable, here you are. Each cabin has a guest journal and in reading comments we noticed one from a visitor who used the cabin to escape to write his dissertation. As someone who has written a dissertation I did chuckle and thought "this would be the place to go to write the great American novel or to finish a great work." You would be uninterrupted. We have already discussed returning next year and making it a family affair by renting a few more cabins. Would highly recommend.
