Great family vacation home
My family and I had a wonderful time at this home in the Berkshires. The house has gorgeous views of Mount Greylock and surrounding mountains. The property has a sprawling lawn and sloping hills that our children had a blast running up and rolling down. Our children had a great time visiting the horses. At night, we made a little fire on the back patio and sat outside to see shooting stars and the Milky Way. The house was large enough to accommodate 8 adults and 4 children (two families, grandparents), with enough room for everyone to have their own space. We each occupied all the bedrooms in the house, but if we had more people, the children could have slept in the HUGE playroom, which had an additional futon mattress and pull-out couch. Kitchen pantry was fully stocked, came with most of the amenities you might need. Since we were a large group, we cooked/grilled almost every meal, baked pies and desserts, without a problem. There is also a vegetable/herb garden on their property that we could pick from and ate garden-fresh tomatoes and beans with dinner. A great bonus. While the house/location is pretty quiet, we were only 10 minutes from Williams College, Clark Art, about 15 mins. from MassMoca, apple picking farms, and supermarkets, and close to the summit of Mount Greylock (which you can see from the house). Tanglewood is a scenic 45-min drive away. There are also trails and farmstands about a mile or so away. The owner was very responsive to email/text and the booking process was very smooth. Couple of things to note - we booked the home thinking it was a typical vacation home (ie. serves as only a vacation rental), but it appears to be a house that the family also lives in. This was not an issue for us, but it did mean we were extra mindful of how our children used the toys and how we used the space once we quickly realized that this was not just a rental but also someone's home. The other thing to note is that there is no central air conditioning - again, not an issue for us - there are plenty of ceiling fans and at night, the air was breezy, but thought this might be helpful for some renters to know. All in all, a wonderful stay and recommend to other families.
Scenic, quiet, country retreat close to theatre, golf, skiing, hiking, museums
