Our rustic homestead is located in the beautiful Dolores, Colorado countryside. This relaxing eclectic cottage is perfect for a summer family vacation, fishing or hunting trip or even a ski rental in the winter. It is located 10 miles north of Cortez, about 60 miles southwest of Telluride and about 46 miles northwest of Durango, with Mesa Verde 20 minutes away. There are beautiful views of Sleeping Ute, Mesa Verde and The La Plata Mountain Range as well as beautiful country surroundings. If you appreciate the rural countryside, this cozy homestead is for you.
This 1300 square foot home was originally built in 1929 and is updated with modern amenities. It is located on 25 acres with mountain bike and hiking trails just outside the door. Our cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, kitchen, living room, dining area and mud room. Facilities and features include, internet access (wifi), private yard and parking, TV (local channels only)and DVD player, grill, towels and bedding. The master bedroom has 2 twin beds that can be pushed together or separated. The second bedroom has a set of bunk beds with a twin on the top and a full size on the bottom. There is a sofa sleeper in the living room with a queen size mattress. The kitchen is fully equip with microwave, electric stove, refrigerator, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, utensils, cutting board, cups, coffee maker/coffee filters. The dining room table easily seats six with the possibility of squeezing in a few more people. There is a washer and dryer in the mudroom, which is located off of the kitchen. There is access to a garage for secure storage of small cars, kayaks, bikes, etc. Pets are welcome, however we do charge a $30 fee, per pet. Please contact me with any questions.
Enjoy mountain bike riding or hiking right outside the back door by taking advantage of your own private trail located along the canyon behind the house or enjoy biking on one of the many bike trails in Cortez, such as Phil's World or Boggy Draw single track biking areas. Love to fish? Mc Phee reservoir is just a few minutes away or enjoy fishing other numerous lakes around. There are train rides in Durango, gondola rides and shopping in Telluride or ski one of several ski resorts, such as Purgatory, Hesperus or even Telluride in the winter months. If museums and are what interest you, the Anasazi Heritage Center is just 5 minutes away to tour and with information about Hovenweep National Monument- ancient towers and cliff dwellings. If cliff dwellings are what you fancy, Mesa Verde is 20 minutes away. There is so much to do with something to do for everyone! It is ideal as a base camp for a Colorado adventure.+ More
