We provide personal, couple and very small group retreats designed to let you rest and replenish, and can include options such as catered meals, in-home yoga, massage, guided nature meditations, and more. Small families are most welcome too.
Resting on quartz rock, the land is forested and surrounded by 300+ acres of fields and forests that beckon you to explore. Infuse your senses with all that the surrounding natural world has to offer.
THE SPACE :
This space is conducive to creative types seeking solitude for their craft, couples looking to get away from it all and deepen in their connection, small groups who are drawn to the natural world for replenishment, and those seeking a healing space to relax in. Families are most welcome too! The sounds of peepers, red-winged black birds, thrushes, and owls are in abundance.
All linens, duvets, pillows, blankets, towels, soap, shampoo are provided. Spices, oils, coffee, tea and all those little condiment additions needed for slow food type cooking is stocked too, though catering is available for those who prefer it. An abundance of yoga props is provided for movement practices to support your restoration.
There is wifi, though it's patchy and not conducive to netflix or large downloads (we are using cell data to even have wifi available!) and a surround sound system (Airport) that is wired for both upstairs and down that you can plug into. There is no tv, instead the land beckons you to explore.
The well cared for, 2 storey home is fully yet simply furnished with 1750 square feet of indoor living space (including insulated sunroom).
The upper floor is a spacious, open concept that is laid out in such a way as to provide ample privacy for the bedrooms (one double bed on one side / one single bed on the other, with a staircase entering up through the middle). 2 large windows on each side let in great light and look out to the surrounding forest (blackout blinds are provided). Full bathroom has tub and shower.
The main floor offers a kitchen, livingroom, additional bedroom with 2 single beds and a sliding barn-styled door looking out towards the sunroom and side gardens, full bathroom with shower, laundry area with a 2 yr old front-loading, stacked washer and dryer unit, a woodstove that is exceptionally warm for the size of the house, and an insulated sunroom with tinted screen protectors. A stocked bookcase has plenty for you to peruse on alternative healing, wellness, inspiring and transformational reads.
Outdoors, there are lovely perennial gardens surrounding the home, and a gazebo with a picnic table, hammock, small side table and table top BBQ (canisters required) which is surrounded by rock gardens.
There is a covered carport for one vehicle, ample parking including for your own kayaks, etc, and a large woodshed has wood for the wood stove in fall/winter and room for bikes, etc in spring/summer.
GUEST INTERACTION :
Our intent is to provide the space where you can feel wholly nourished, replenished, creatively inspired, and as though you are one with the natural world around you. This time is for you. Guests are greeted upon arrival and briefed on the ins and outs of The Sanctuary, then left to indulge in their stay. We are always available by text or phone if anything comes up during your stay. We welcome respectful guests who honour the space and care for it as though it is their own.
PLEASE NOTE :
Our lovely tortoise-shelled cat, Sula, will be your host. Independent, yet affectionate, she will largely be outdoors, except during winter months. She lives and sleeps outdoors during spring/summer/fall.
Families/babies/children are most welcome! Note that we've not outfitted the home with safety features specifically for them (gates/playpens/etc), however we do have plenty of toys/books/games/dinnerware available and can make additional arrangements if needed. Please inquire.
We have our own drilled well, and the water is fresh, delicious tasting, and of course perfectly safe for drinking and bathing.
There is not a landline at the house; cell phones receive reception through both Bell and Rogers communication companies (and the smaller companies who use their towers). If you are travelling from another country, check with your provider beforehand to confirm who will be your host cell provider once arriving.
