Classic New Hampshire cottage, neatly kept, simple, no-frills yet possessing an old-fashioned charm that many refer to as 'spirit-renewing'. Colonial Pines sits on the edge of picturesque Center Harbor Bay.
Simple lakeside charm. Cottage #4 has one bedroom with a queen size bed and a trundle bed in the living room that can be set up as two twin beds or attached to make a kind size bed. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, and a drip coffee maker. All dishes, silverware and pots and pans are provided. Food or meals are not provided. Local supermarket is less than a mile away.
The cottage has two large screened in porches with table and chairs for dining and relaxing. Our location is in a quiet non-commercialized area, assuring our guests of privacy.
Cottage #4 has a view of the woods and a limited view of the lake. Get in touch with nature, perfect for boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming. There are few locations on the 'big lake' that offer so much privacy without a long drive to the store and services. Restaurants and groceries are only 2 minutes by car or boat. Restaurants ranging from family fast food to gourmet meals are within a couple of miles.
One hundred fifty feet of sandy bathing with gradual slope, two wharves, one with diving board; swim raft, stone fireplace by lake for cook-outs, outdoor shuffle-board court, badminton court, and table tennis. Complimentary use of canoes. Kayak rentals available.
There are many islands to explore by water. The harbor is protected on three sides which makes it ideal for canoeing and kayaking.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
We live on the property and assist our guests with check-in, boat rentals, finding local attractions, and any other way we can. One of our reviewers says it best: 'Cindy and Gary are experienced hosts who know how to welcome guests and offer assistance, but also leave space for privacy. They are genuinely nice people, and we felt completely comfortable with them'. We have new guests and guests that have been coming for over 40 years.
We are within walking distance to the quaint town of Center Harbor. There are wonderful little shops in town including Keepsake Quilting, a bookstore, a grocery store, ice cream stands, restaurants and even a gazebo for band concerts on Friday evenings. Hiking, antiquing, golfing, outlet shopping are just a few of the many activities close by. Close to the White Mountains and Gunstock Ski area where you can enjoy many outdoor activities. There are lots of hiking trails for all abilities within a short drive.
Some guests bring bicycles. A great family tradition is walking to town for ice cream on a hot summer night.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Weekly rentals Friday to Friday during July & August. We prefer to rent a minimum of three nights other times of the year because of the cleaning involved with a cottage, but a 2 night minimum will be considered. Events and holiday weekends may require a longer minimum stay. If you're looking to stay for a night or two please consider our Lodge Suite. We do not provide sheets and towels. If it's not possible for you to bring your own please let us know. A fee will apply. A deep well on the property assures great drinking water. Boat slips available if you bring your own boat. Additional cost for boat slips. Please inquire. Plenty of parking for trailers. Close to all area attractions. Cruise Lake Winni on the MS Mount Washington (it departs from Center Harbor on Monday's), hike in the White Mountains, tour Castle in the Clouds, attend a concert at Meadowbrook, shop at the Outlet stores in North Conway, go zip lining in Lincoln, ride the Cog Railroad up Mount Washington. Just to name a few of the many things to see and do in our beautiful area!
Pets are not allowed and Colonial Pines is a non smoking environment.
Please note: Check in after 3:00PM - Check out by 10:00AM.
Due to our cleaning schedule early check in and late check out is not permitted. Extra guests incur a charge and must be approved before you check in.
Please do not hang wet beach towels or bathing suits in cottage. Please use clothesline located beside the Lodge. Guests will arrive to a clean cottage; however we do not offer housekeeping services during your visit. Guests will maintain their own cottage in a reasonable fashion during their visit. When our guests depart, we request the cottage to be broom clean, dishes washed and put away, trash disposed of in the dumpster, recycle placed in the blue bins between the lodge and workshop, furniture and bedding should be in a neat and tidy order.
Please do not feed the ducks, squirrels or chipmunks, as cute as they may be!
When using the heater in the cottage please keep door(s) and windows closed. If you leave the cottage for a period of time please set the thermostat back. Heaters are turned off during July and August.+ More
