If you've ever thought of building your own tiny home, try The Glen out first! Love to ski, hike, bike, or explore tiny towns? This is the perfect spot for a short, easy, and inexpensive stay. Nestled just off the road for convenience but amidst tall trees for shady cool breezes and green-filled peace. Located in Glenford - 8 min from Woodstock, 5 min from Wilson State Park, less than 15 min from both uptown Kingston (east) and Phoenicia (west), 30 min to Belleayre Ski Mountain, 15 min to KTD Monastery and 5 min to Zen Mountain Monastery.
The Glen sleeps up to 3 people comfortably but you'll be most comfortable if you're familiar with Tiny House living; meaning, The Glen has no running water - just drinking and washing water but not showering options. It has a dry flush toilet (just like a regular toilet with a flush button).
It's a great place to stay for an experience with nature - you'll get a chance to listen for birds, including our resident red-tailed hawk, woodpeckers, and seasonal duck visitors, Emerald and Sadie. You can admire the flora that surrounds the seasonal stream when you chill on the deck. While we don't have running water, there is a kitchenette on site with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop, cookware, glass-ware, dishes, and utensils for prepping one-pot meals. It also has a toaster oven, mini-Bodum, and electric tea kettle can go without showering but you can't go without coffee!
We offer soft sheets, organic coffee, tea & sugar - let's call it glamping!
You will have access to the full acre and a half of property. We live "next door" on a neighboring parcel of land. The land is thick with ferns in the summer and easily navigable paths in fall and winter. Kenneth Wilson State Park is a less than 5 min drive down the road and, for a $6 car fee, provides access to boating, camping, hiking, showers, and a brand new gorgeous playground for the little ones.
There are many DEC hiking trails just minutes from The Glen and the Ashokan Reservoir is a nearby worthwhile experience. You must have a pass ahead of time - to apply for and print your pass, google, "NYC Watershed Recreation Permit."
You need a car to navigate the area. If you are an experienced cyclist, we can recommend exciting routes to challenge your skills.
The Glen is suitable for children, small families, and singles alike. Please know that due to the rural setting, you may not have cellular service at The Glen. As of this listing date, Verizon receives service at The Glen but AT&T does not.
Use your country smarts when visiting The Glen - stay on the trail. If you venture off, check for ticks, don't feed the bears, and look out for poison ivy.
