This lovingly renovated studio in the best part of North Park is the perfect place to get away in San Diego! The cozy, eclectically decorated space is private and has its own patio complete with gas grill, umbrella, tables and chairs to help you enjoy Southern California indoor/outdoor life. Parking, laundry, wifi, and loaner beach gear are all included. The vibrant North Park restaurant and brewery scene is within easy walking distance.
The living space opens up on to your private patio and has a seating area with a sofa that converts to a chaise lounge or full bed for additional guests. The bedroom area contains a queen sized bed, desk, night stand, and wardrobe. The large bathroom has a bath tub and shower, plenty of storage, and a vanity and medicine cabinet. The eat-in kitchenette is equipped with a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee machine, Brita filter, hot plate, and all the cups, glasses, silverware, plates, and cookware you need.
We are right in between the entertainment districts of South Park and North Park, there are a ton of great restaurants, bars, breweries, and shops you can reach on foot. New breweries sprout up all the time, but within walking distance are: Thorn Street Brewery, Modern Times, the Belching Beaver, North Park Beer Company, Mike Hess, and more. The airport (15 minutes), zoo (10 minutes), beach (20 minutes), and other tourist attractions are all easy to get to due to the central location. This part of North Park, called Altadena, is full of adorable houses from the 1920's. It has a typical Southern California feel with streets lined with palm trees and lots of families out walking their dogs and enjoying the perfect weather. It's an easy and inexpensive cab or Uber ride to get to Hillcrest or downtown.
The studio is located in back of a 1920's craftsman cottage where your hostess Rosemary lives with her wife Adrian and their dog Hilde. Rosemary's parents Rex and Margaret live in the granny flat above your studio. Each unit has a separate entrance, parking spot, and outdoor area but laundry facilities are shared. We are always interested to meet our guests and are happy to give you recommendations and answer questions but we also respect your privacy.
There are some quirks to the space, as you might expect from a guest suite in a converted garage in an old building. We have lived there ourselves and can attest to the fact that it is a cozy and comfortable place to be, but a propane grill/hot plate/toaster oven/microwave combination is really not the same as a regular stove and oven and at 7'2 the ceiling height is noticeably shorter than the 7'6+ standard. As is pretty standard in San Diego we do not have central air and use natural air flow and fans to keep the space cool and space heaters when it is cold.
The unit is professionally cleaned between every stay and has a yearly maintenance schedule to ensure big cleaning jobs are done.+ More
