Come stay on pristine and quiet Squam Lake for a family holiday, a couples getaway, or a special celebration. With a beach, extensive dock, screen porch, chef's kitchen, fireplace, trails down the road, and the sound of loons, you'll love our home for a luxury nature experience. The house sits on 3 acres with 600' lake frontage. This is a four season house and the area has tons to offer during all seasons. Summer is great, and Fall and Winter are our favorites.
This space is unique in that it is on beautiful, quiet, rustic Squam Lake, but the house is not rustic. Beautiful and charming, you will be comfortable in this clean and relaxing house. Come use the house for a peaceful retreat, as a time to share meals cooked in the large chef's kitchen, and as a place to enjoy any of the four seasons: fishing when the ice is out, cross country skiing in the winter, or hiking year round. While summer is a great (warm) time to enjoy the lake, Fall, Winter, and Spring have just as much to offer. Gunstock Mountain Resort is 40 minutes away and Waterville Valley is about an hour away, and both have downhill and cross country skiing in winter, hiking and adventures year-round. We have grown up in the area and can share our thoughts on outdoor adventures such as hiking, skiing, fishing, boating and on the logistics of having an easy and relaxing time. Please be in touch and we can help you plan your time here to be as adventurous or relaxing as you'd like.
The whole house will be yours, with a stone fireplace and hot tub to warm up. Outside for your private use is a large, L-shaped dock, a swimming raft and stand-up paddle board (when there's no ice on the lake), outdoor patio, children's playground, two large lawns, a small "kids beach" and a canoe. In the basement is a large screen TV and a playroom with ping-pong, pool, foosball, and air hockey. We also have lots and lots of kids toys your little ones can play with inside and out.
This part of Squam Lake is very quiet, with trees in between houses for maximum privacy. Kayaks and sailboats are more common than power boats, and loons are common when the ice is out. There are nature trails within walking distance of the house, and longer hikes a short drive away. Well-stocked supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants, hardware store, bookstore, and gift shops are a ten minute drive away. The conveniences are pretty great for being located in such a quiet, peaceful, natural area.
There is Wi-Fi at the house, Netflix on the big screen TV (but no cable), and good cell service (at least for Verizon).
We will not be in the area during your stay but are available by phone. We would love to help you plan your visit, and have extensive knowledge of hiking and skiing in the area, from all-day adventures to family trips with toddlers.
Driving to the house from Boston takes 2 hours, from New York driving time is 5.25 hours. You can take a bus from Boston and beyond, but it takes about twice the time as it does to drive.+ More
