Turtle Cove......A Country Home Away From Home Surrounded by Water
"Turtle Cove" is blessed with a beautiful setting... Nature and Water all around. The Half Moon Pond is viewed from both the side patio and front windows. The Powwow River (a water lily covered wetlands) is behind the home, and a four minute walk away Kingston Lake Association's sandy beach beckons with spectacular sunrises the reward for early risers. It is a quiet, uncrowded beach for lazy Summer days, with a grill and an event building (requires Association approval and modest fee) should guests wish to entertain additional family & friends.
The Physical Plant:
Cook Gourmet Meals @ home in a fully equipped kitchen fit for a chef (& a hidden MicroWave), with basics from condiments & spices to oil and vinegars. The easy alternative is exceptional dining out locally or in Amesbury, Newburyport, Exeter, Portsmouth, Rye or the Hamptons.
The beautifully decorated Gathering Room has a gas fireplace, high end stereo with Wi-Fi (TV monitors in 2nd floor Master Bdrm & upstairs children's/game room). There is also a convenient first floor half bathroom, with a washer & dryer to eliminate vacation over-packing.
Beyond the 1/2 bath is a Master Bedroom with Queen bed, a heated/air conditioned walk in closet (large enough for a full size crib) , a Monitor & Wi-Fi Bose speaker , a comfortable rocking recliner for reading, and sliders to the back yard.
The Master Bathroom has a double wide walk in shower with corner seats & fixed & hand held shower heads. There is also a small closet for clothing.
The upstairs rooms are each a roomy 450 square feet, with separate entrances into the full bathroom. The Master bedroom has a queen bed and is decorated in Japanese fashion (simple but elegant). It has a ceiling fan to enhance the home’s central air-conditioning & a large walk in closet.
The second room can accommodate 4 children in twin beds, and 2 more children or one couple in the room's queen futon. The futon is opposite the large screen TV, positioned watching a movie or playing a game on the X-box. The "modern electronics"...... Purity electronic speakers and high end Onkyo Receiver (wi-fi equipped), Apple TV with Hulu & X-box drive the large screen TV. "Board Game Families", please indicate your favorites and they will be added to our collection if not already available. This room is presently undergoing installation of a built-to specs Japanese wall unit with platform beds (twin), so pictures will be added when the work has been completed some time in mid to late June.
Out Door Activities
Explore the river wetlands and lake in a tandem kayak (searching for 2 singles) . Swim at the Association Beach. The high school tennis courts are a short three minute drive. While there are no "Pebble Beach" courses in the area, there are several local courses to accommodate those who experience "putter withdrawal" when more than 15 miles from a passable course. There are two courses very close to Turtle Cove. One is a good upscale public Resort/Club with a passable restaurant. The area is ideal for biking, or go walking on a local nature trail. Families interested in longer stays should go to YMCA's Lincoln Camp web site to view its varied & engaging programs for children of varying ages. The camp sits on Kingston Lake and is very short 2-3 minute drive from Turtle Cove OR, and 8-10 minute bike ride!
Want a BIG BEACH with crashing waves and body surfing? The spectacular MA Reserve Beach in Salisbury, or Plum Island Beach outside Newburyport, and the Seabrook and Hampton Beaches are all convenient to Turtle Cove. the best surfing with a board, whether with or without sail, is in Rye, NH, where the three modest size beaches are far more attractive and less populated than those in Hampton Beach. The Salisbury State Beach (Reserve) is the ONLY beach where parking a car is feasible and or inexpensive.
Getting Here.....Easy!....Location, Location, Location, right?
Arriving by car is simple. Turtle Cove is a short 15 minutes drive from I-95, I-495, and NH Rt. 101, and 30 minutes from I-93's Exit 3.
If you reside or work in Boston, consider giving the family a nice long country vacation, with the working parent visiting on weekends. A Boston based "week-day stay at home/office parent" can take the daily trains to either the Newburyport, MA or Exeter, NH station.....Relax, read a book and avoid the weekend traffic.
For those coming from a distance, Amtrak serves Exeter, NH, and is a romantic alternative to flying, with the added perk of avoiding our friends from Homeland Security and all that entails.
Flying to New Hampshire? The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, a short 35 minute drive to Turtle Cove, is preferred. Logan International is about an hour trip without traffic. With traffic, it's anyone's guess, but usually no more than an hour and a half.
