It's been said that Rice Lake has more fish per acre than any other Ontario Lake, so this great property is a perfect spot for fishing enthusiasts. It’s also ideal for larger families as the main house has accommodation on two levels and the guest cabin is a self-contained two-bedroom property.
The main house has two levels. The lower walkout is a family room that has a full kitchen, dining and living area with a wood stove with a door onto the lower terrace. There is a bedroom on this level with two doubles, each with a single bunk over. A full bathroom and the laundry area complete this space.
The upper, main level, also has an open plan kitchen, living and dining area with a walkout to the large tiled deck. Three bedrooms and a 4 -piece bathroom are off a hallway, and the two waterside bedrooms have walkouts to the deck.
The extensive lawns are great for playing ball and the firepit will be a venue to get everyone together for an evening under the stars.
As with many Rice Lake locations, the shallow waters that once made rice growing commonplace in the area, are prone to weediness so this is not a good spot for swimming, although a sandy beach on a nearby island is accessible by boat. It’s 10 minutes with the row-boat, or you can rent a motor boat from the nearby resort and dock it at the cottage.
Rice Lake is surrounded by rolling hills offering scenic driving tours, historic towns and villages with artisan studios and antique shops. Play golf on one of the numerous courses offering challenging to relaxing play with superb views and vistas, or explore networks of trails and parkland in local forest and conservation areas. Bring your golf clubs, fishing rods, bikes or walking shoes and enjoy many of the activities on offer.
Note: The owner’s newly built home sits between Villa Julia and the guest cabin. The owners may be at their cottage at times, but they will respect your privacy. However the owner tells me that if she is making pizza she may deliver some to your door!+ More
