Weekly, Saturday to Saturday rental located in Downeast Maine. South Addison is a quaint lobster village on Eastern Harbor. From the house, to the south, it is an easy commute for day drips to Corea, Winter Harbor, Schoodic Point, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park. To the north, within an easy commute are Roghes Bluff State Park, Eastport, Lubec, ME and Campobello Island in Canada.
Within walking distance of the house is a lobster wharf where you can watch the lobster boats come in and purchase fresh lobsters right off the dock. There are also three hiking trails that are part of the Downeast Coastal Conservacy’s Ingersoll Trail Network; Adler Woods Trail, Wohoa Bay Trail and Carrying Place Cove Trail. All three trails start only a block from the house directly behind the Union Church parking lot on Mooseneck Road. The Town of Addison also has a hiking trail off Narrows Road. If you like to kayak, there is Eastern Bay, Whoa Bay and the Pleasant River in the immediate vicinity. With a kayak you can easily reach Tibbett’s Island across from the Narrows Road and Sheep Island across from Cape Split. Sheep Island has a beach, picnic table, fire pit and outhouse. You can picnic on Sheep Island and will most likely have the whole island to yourself. Both Islands are also part of the Downeast Coastal Conservacy and are open top the public.
Bald Eagles nest on the island in Eastern Harbor and frequently soar over the harbor. Shorebirds, ducks and geese abound during spring and fall migration. Puffin and lobster boat tours are available locally.
There is a water view of Eastern Harbor from house and the views of sunsets over the harbor can be spectacular. There is a wrap around deck with built-in seating on the rear of the house. On the first floor of the house there is an eat-in kitchen, living room, bedroom and full bathroom with a shower. There are two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second floor. The enclosed porch on the front of the house is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the harbor. A washer and dryer are located in the basement for your use.
