Lieutenant's Island is a great secret of Cape Cod. We had visited Wellfleet for 15 years and never stepped foot on this wonderful island. One visit, and we were hooked. You will be surrounded by nature, beach, wildlife and water. Much of the land is Audubon protected. Enjoy ever-changing scenery as you walk or Kayak the island. Low tide reveals shallow waters teaming with terrapins, fiddler crabs and other shellfish.
Access the island by car/bike/foot across a wide, scenic marsh and one-lane wooden bridge. There are approximately 50 homes on Lieutenant's Island. All roads are well-maintained dirt/sand. Please note that the bridge is inaccessible at times during very high tides. This depends on the lunar calendar, and generally restricts access several days each month, for a few hours at a time. For us, this adds to the charm and relaxation (and the bridge makes a great diving platform). However, some guests may not like this feature. if you have questions, just let us know. We can point you to the tide chart for your planned visit as needed.
Other things to note:
There is no landline telephone or broadband or cable connection at the house. However, there is very good cell phone reception and we use our iPhones as wireless hotspots. Works great for email and internet. Not as reliable for Netflix/HBOGO.
We do have two TV monitors with DVD players at the house for unplugged/old school entertainment.
And of course, there are books.+ More
