This beautiful rustic post-and-beam saltwater house is situated on 125 wooded acres on Muscongus Bay. The property has been in the family over 100 years and is just now being rented on a select basis. Comfortable and tastefully decorated, this is the perfect spot for families and friends looking to experience the beauty of the Maine coast and a simpler way of life.
You can explore the 1/2 mile of shorefront, walk through the woods, swim or kayak in the bay, or stay inside to read and relax. The house is filled with books, antiques, and many interesting objects from the owner’s collections. Located at the end of a long dirt drive, getting to Breman House is all part of the adventure! As there are no TV, Internet, or other distractions, this home is truly a getaway, offering complete privacy.
This unique house is offered to guests seeking an extended stay of 1 month or longer (1month minimum). The monthly rate for the 2017 summer season (June, July, & August) is $12,000 per month. (Please contact us for monthly rates for other times of the year). Weekly housekeeping can also be arranged.
The house sleeps up to 8 people in 4 bedrooms located in two separate areas of the house, which afford extra privacy and is a perfect arrangement for sharing with another family or for offering children their own space. All beds have down duvets and nice linens and pillows.
There is an open, cathedral-ceiling farmhouse-style eat-in kitchen/dining area that features a commercial Wolfe gas range and a large farm-table that seats 12. It’s a wonderful space for preparing and sharing meals together. There is also a pantry area with a dishwasher, large fridge, and an additional soapstone sink/cleanup/food prep area. Other rooms include: a separate dining room, living room/library, and 2.5 baths. The home features classic, simple Shaker-style furnishings, rustic wide pine floors, and includes everything needed for cooking.
Outside there are 125 acres of woods and a 1/2 mile of shore to explore, fields and flowers, and a picturesque Maine saltwater setting that is truly spectacular.
The location is convenient for exploring the area and other parts of Maine. The nearby town of Round Pond is a classic Maine fishing harbor, with fresh lobster dinners on the docks. There is a general store for gas, locally baked goods, and limited supplies. Take day trips to Pemaquid Lighthouse, Damariscotta, Boothbay, Camden, Rockland, Monhegan Island, and more.
