Welcome to our Big Yellow House in SE's Hosford/Clinton neighborhood, described as both bustling and tranquil. While it is in the center of a bustling family neighborhood, guests will feel the peace and quiet of this amazing house on entering. FIRST FLOOR
Near the back entry there is a half bathroom and hall and to the right a large sunporch suitable for lounging, enjoying morning coffee or even sleeping on summer nights.
There is a sunny eat-in kitchen with a table that seats 6. There is a folding table as well that seats 6. In addition there is a dining table in the living room.
The large dining room has been converted into a sleeping area-perfect for children- with bunk beds and twin beds. Sleeps 4-6.
The living room is large and homey with comfortable chairs. Games and books on the shelf. There is a basic TV as well (no cable but there are OPB and other popular stations. The TV is light so can be moved if necessary.
The double size master bedroom is on the west side. There is a queen bed, and portable beds can be placed in there as well. The middle room has a double bed. Another twin bed can fit in there easily.
The east room has a ¾ size bed suitable for 2 children. All rooms have dressers and closets, and two have bookcases and window seats
The full bath has a clawfoot tub with a shower. BASEMENT
The washer/dryer is in the clean well-lit basement. There is a utility sink as well.
The house is completely furnished. All amenities, furniture and necessities for living are in the house.
The Yellow House sits on the corner overlooking the neighborhood. In the distance are the West Hills, closer in, the trees and houses of Southeast, even closer, 26th Avenue-full of cyclists on their way to work, students on their way to school, and cars, too. Relax on the porch and watch the people go by.
The streets and sidewalks will lead you to lovely homes, quiet parks and community gardens. I love the Willamette River and all the bridges that span it. I hope you will also experience watching the fireworks set off from barges on the river, enjoy a concert at Riverside Park, walk along the riverfront promenades and eating at a pier side restaurant as the boats and kayaks glide by. There are 2 buses that are just a couple of minute's walk. The 9, just a block away, takes you downtown. Bus 4 is a few blocks north on Division Street. They go to different parts of downtown. From the main stops you can connect with the Max or trolley, or other buses. If you have a car, Powell Avenue is just a block away. Turn right on Powell and you will go across the Ross Island Bridge to the City Center. Or keep going for an hour or so, and you will be at the Pacific Ocean! OR One block from my house, turn left on Powell (Hwy 26 East) and it will take you to Mount Hood, the Columbia Gorge, wineries and lots of wonderful places.
There is school traffic at 8am and at 3pm (but none in summer) and you can't hear it from inside the house.
You can also park away from that area in front of my house on 26th. The school and the students add to the character of the area, and the street lights everywhere add to the feeling of protection.
