Property Description

From it's distinctive look to its uncompromising design, Crescendo, is a testament to architectural genius. A work of Art, actually, where contemporary ingenuity (and elegance) interact seamlessly (and harmoniously) with nature’s raw beauty. One guest, in fact, shared that she'd "sent the architectural plans to St Peter, so when I get to heaven he will already have a start on my dream chalet."

At about 5200 square feet, Crescendo is Big White’s largest single-family home offered as a rental accommodation. More importantly, though, at Big White, Crescendo defines “luxury,” and every aspect about the home was designed for practicality and for comfort.

Embedded into the mountain’s granite base, and following closely the mountain’s natural contour, Crescendo was brilliantly engineered to be an extension of the mountain itself. Six very separate / private areas are created by half-rotations around our striking glass-block spiraled staircase. So, while Crescendo is at first a 3 bedroom 5 bathroom home, our rooms may be configured in various ways, so that Crescendo may have up to 6 bedrooms. Crescendo, too, has enough fixed and movable beds to sleep 22. Our intention, though, is to comfortably sleep 15.

While each room captures views of the slopes and/or of the majestic Monashee Mountains, the views from the Great Room, from the Kitchen, and from the Dining Room are absolutely breathtaking. When cooking, dining, or relaxing, thirty feet of floor-to-ceiling windows provide unprecedented panoramas upon which the eye may endlessly feast. The master ensuite, which overlooks the Great Room, is advantaged by that same view.

Bedroom Description

Five very separate / private areas are created by half-rotations around our striking glass-block spiraled staircase. So, while Crescendo is at first a 3 bedroom 5 bathroom home, our rooms may be configured in various ways so that Crescendo may have up to 6 bedrooms. Crescendo, too, has enough fixed and movable beds to sleep 22. Our intention, though, is to comfortably sleep 15.

Three of our bedrooms are dedicated wholly to that use: the Master Bedroom & the two Guest Bedrooms. The Theatre and Game Room are our flexible bedrooms, meaning that the rooms can easily serve as being both entertainment areas and private bedrooms. While cleverly designed and hidden, the beds in both of those rooms are custom-made and permanent. Also, the bedding/mattresses are of the same exceptional quality as the dedicated bedrooms.

The bed/bath configurations may be found elsewhere on this site. Note, though, that even when not including the use of any of our sleeper couches, Crescendo has 14 separate beds (1 King, 5 Queens, 8 Twins). We additionally have various portable beds that can be setup upon request. These include cots and air beds for adults, portable cots & sleeping bags for toddlers (up to about age five), and a Pack 'n Play for an infant.

Almost all of Crescendo's bedrooms have their own private ensuites. The master ensuite, though, is especially sweet. Not only does it boast a two-person steam-shower, but the two-person jetted tub overlooks the Great Room, providing views to the fireplace, to the ski slopes, and to the Monashee mountains.

Property is NOT waterfront or within 30 minute drive of a lake, ocean or river.

Snow Skiing & Boarding

Ski/Board Out is directly to a downhill run from the property. Ski/Board In is directly back to the property (no walking).

Only steps to the village, and at the very corner of Hummingbird Run and Gondola Way, simply stated, this unit's location is second to none. Oh, did I say location? Not only does the unit boast true ski-in/out access (right to your door); but it is also virtually a stone's throw to the main village.

Check IN: 04:00 PM Check OUT: 10:00 AM Children of all ages are welcome. For every booking, the majority of our Adult guests must be over 25 years old. Smoking is allowed outside only. Even still, not in the Garage; not near any open window. Our Policies that are provided in our Rental Agreement must be adhered to.

Non-Skiers? No Problem!

Staying at Crescendo is like being at a private lodge. Skiers and non-skiers both rave about Crescendo’s entertainment options, which is why Crescendo is enjoyed by guests even outside of ski season.

Late Spring to early Fall, in fact, are my favorite times at Crescendo. Just take a look at our Outdoor Play areas, where you'll find resort-like comfort. During the day, move freely between our pool and picnic table areas. Later, enjoy the sunset, seated around our gas-fired Fire Table.

Your chef, too, will enjoy the experience with you, as our new Grilling Station is fully integrated in that area. A 38” Napoleon Grill (that’s 42 hamburgers), built into and surrounded by granite-topped bar seating. With an abundance of counter space on either side of the grill, meals flow smoothly from grilling platters - to the grill - to serving platters. The grilling station is a convenient extension of the nearby kitchen, so when it comes to providing an awesome gourmet experience, we’ve got you covered both inside and out.

Crescendo’s Theatre, too, is outstanding! The movie screen is 110”, with 7.1 surround sound. More than 1200 movie titles are at your fingertips, literally, controlled via the two touchpanels in that room.

For you Card Sharks, we have a Poker Table that seats six. For you tennis players, we have ... no, we don't have tennis courts; but we do have a Professional Ping Pong Table. And, for you billiards buffs, we have Bumper Pool.

Fitness-Inclined?

No problem with body image here! Crescendo is equipped with 2 unique high-end fitness systems: the PowerTower and the SwimGym. The PowerTower was designed for high performance functional sports training (and clinical physical rehabilitation). Crescendo’s SwimGym equally adds a novel dimension to recreation, to exercise therapy, and to sports medicine. It’s non-aerated system creates an underwater current for stationary lap swimming.

We do truly try very hard (and don't always succeed) - something that the customs agents couldn't understand when they grilled me about the 40 (single) pounds of my favorite coffee (Sulawesi-Kalossi), 80 of the “magic” coffee mugs (and 48 embroidered robes) that I brought with me from California a couple months ago. This ski season booked-out so fast this year, that yesterday I had to scramble to block-off a week for me and the family. Thanks Sharon, for the great review. Hosting Corporate Retreats at Crescendo was at the forefront during our design stage. In a previous email you noted that the group “ended up using the media room for presentations,” and that they had shared it “felt like they were at the movies, but watching a presentation.” Exactly our intention. Wow! Thanks MUCH for the thorough (and great) review. So glad that you all got to experience the totality of what goes into making Crescendo all that it is. One of my favorite areas is definitely the BBQ area you referenced. That’s one of the reasons I actually enjoy being at Crescendo more during the summer than the winter (although the winter is crazily magical). GREAT suggestions about prepping for a visit, by bringing the right attire as well as by gassing up. I, too, have driven back from Big White on fumes. If it weren't for the fact it was mostly downhill, I doubt I would have made it. I’ll be sure to include both of those points in the info we send in advance to our guests, with regard to preparing for their upcoming stay. Best! Mitch
